Hold the handle of the knife sharpener in your hand that is not using the scissors.2. Open your scissors and insert the blades as far as possible through the appropriate side depending on right or left- handed scissors.3. Close scissors on the sharpenign rod as if you were trying to cut the rod, then pull the scissors through the slots while trying to keep the blades closed. if preferred, push scissors through the unit instead of pulling. 4.
