To cover the wide gamut of cutting in the kitchen, Wusthof offers this quality knife set from their Grand Prix2 line. Wusthof has produced highly functional knives since setting up base in 1814 in Solinger, Germany. This ten-piece set continues this tradition, equipped with a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, 3-inch serrated paring knife, 6-inch sandwich knife, 7-inch hollow-ground Asian-style Santoku knife, 8-inch carving knife, 8-inch chefs knife, 8-inch bread knife, kitchen shears, 9-inch sharpening steel, and a knife block. The knife block offers seventeen slots, providing room to store additional Wusthof knives or other favorites.
The blade, bolster, and tang of each knife were precision forged from a single sheet of German high carbon, stainless steel extending through the full length of the handle for increased balance and permanence. The hygienic stainless-steel construction resists rusting, staining, and pitting. The craftsmen at Wusthof honed the blades by hand before employing computer-controlled front-to-back tapering, grinding, and polishing techniques and laser testing to guarantee consistency and lifelong sharpness and efficiency. With single-riveted, pebble-grained molded handles, chefs enjoy an ergonomically-friendly hold and chop without the potential hindrance of slipping. The knife block features sturdy oak construction to protect knives while allowing chefs quick access while cooking. For the best results, sharpen knives regularly at a 20-degree angle on the sharpening steel. Although the knives are dishwasher- safe, washing by hand is highly recommended for continued efficacy.
